History

Brixworth Angling Club was formed in 1952.

The fishing community of Brixworth Village at that time met once a week in the local pub "The George Inn".The real ales went down a treat in amongst the tales of the one that got away from the match they had just competed on that day. A current member today who can still account for the inception and the tales is Keith Hickman.Keith held the position of treasurer and kept a tight reign on the funds within the club and played a significant role in the survival up until his early retirement from work a few years ago.

The waters of the club consist of a  3-acre lake with depths from 3 to 12ft. 32 pegs in total and a small stocking pond.

This pond which is adjacent to the lake is currently being used to bring on tench, skimmers, carp and chub.

The pond is strictly out of bounds for fishing!

The President Mr.Derek Mabbutt has also been active for many years.

Over the past years the various committee's that have served the club have invested in the fishery, utilising the stocking pond to bring on and encourage the growth of the small fish and then transfering them over when large enough to "Drummer Boy" lake.

This has certainly payed dividends as currently the Drummer Boy lake is producing excellent catches of:Carp to 31lbs,Bream to 7lbs, Chub to 1lb, Perch to 3lbs, Roach to 2lbs, Rudd to 1lb and Tench to 8lbs.

The club had 71 members in the season of 2006 -2007 and this season we are looking for a further increase in the membership.

The club has always been run on a friendly basis and we like to encourage

existing and new members to come along and enjoy the fishing in the picturesque surroundings.
